The Second Chance Fund was established in August 2006 through the Community Foundation of Westmoreland County, to benefit the American Heart Association, CORE (Center for Organ Recovery & Education), the National Kidney Foundation, American Liver Foundation and The Children's Institute.  FROM THE WEBSITE by Malinda Sherid: “My late husband Fred died Christmas night of a fatal heart attack.  Fourteen months later my daughter Kimberly died of injuries she received an a car accident.  Kimberly was an organ donor.  Through her gift of donation she has given a second chance at life to her many recipients. Through the encouragement of my new husband, John we established the Second Chance Fund.  An annual walk is held to raise monies for the Second Chance Fund.”
