Did you know that more than 55% of minorities make up more than half of those currently on the organ donation waiting lists? In order to raise awareness among the multicultural community CORE offers Multicultural Volunteer Task Forces who are tasked with:
- Educating minority communities on facts about organ and tissue transplantation
- Empowering minority communities to develop transplant education programs that allow them to become involved in addressing the shortage of donors
- Increasing minority participation in organ/tissue transplant endeavors including signing organ donor cards
- Encouraging and increasing family discussions related to organ and tissue donation
- Increasing the number of minorities who donate organs and tissues
CORE’s Pittsburgh Multicultural Volunteer Task Force meets monthly at CORE headquarters in RIDC Park, Pittsburgh. If you are interested in attending, please contact Lisa Upsher at lupsher@core.org or 412-963-3550.
